Meet Stacie . . .

Certified: 2003
Started Teaching at BYCK: 2007

I have been practicing various styles of yoga since 1995 and have been teaching yoga since 2001. In 2002, I discovered Bikram Yoga while in Aspen and knew immediately that I wanted to teach it. I left my corporate job in the telecommunications industry in 2002, and in the spring of 2003, I became a certified Bikram Yoga instructor. I now teach full-time.

As a lover of outdoor activities like hiking, sailing and horseback riding and of sports like racquetball, scuba diving, and skiing, I quickly resonated with Bikram’s athletic style of yoga and its therapeutic benefits. I knew this was a style of yoga I could do well into old age and that it would extend my ability to enjoy the activities and sports that I love. In fact, since starting my practice of Bikram Yoga, I have not had any of the painful knee problems I used to continuously experience.

I am passionate about yoga and sharing with others its profound effect on mind, body and spirit. I emphasize the fundamentals of breath, body awareness, and emotional balance, as well as being present, quieting the mind, letting go of judgments and overcoming self-imposed limits. One of my most fulfilling moments as a teacher is when eager students come together in a synergistic fashion and discover something new about themselves.

Stacie instructs the following:
  • Bikram - Beginning Series
  • Bikram Yoga is a demanding series of 26 specific postures and 2 breathing exercises suitable for all ages and levels of ability. The series is designed to work the entire body in 90 minutes. The specific sequence of postures works synergistically and cumulatively, each posture preparing the body for the next. This helps undo some of the damage from sedentary lifestyles, high-impact activities such as running and aerobics and the normal deterioration that comes with age, helping return the body to a more balanced state of health.

With a regular practice, you will experience some of these many benefits:

    • Increase in strength and muscle tone
    • Increase in flexibility of the spine and whole body
    • Increase in endurance
